FLOOD MANAGEMENT BERLIN -
A New Section at WASSER BERLIN INTERNATIONAL 2015
From 24 to 27 March 2015, under the heading of 'FLOOD MANAGEMENT BERLIN', WASSER BERLIN INTERNATIONAL -
the International Trade Fair and Congress for Water and Wastewater - will be presenting a new international trade fair section with an accompanying symposium. FLOOD MANAGEMENT BERLIN topics include protection against floodwater as well as technical measures, water engineering and disaster management.
Trade visitors attending FLOOD MANAGEMENT BERLIN will obtain an overview of all the relevant products, services and solutions, such as flood defence systems, flood protection measures, coastal protection measures, flood barriers, dykes and dyke systems, water engineering, civil engineering, building planning, construction technology as well as risk and disaster management. FLOOD MANAGEMENT BERLIN targets the following audiences: employees and decision-makers in ministries at federal and state level; local councils at urban, district and municipal level; members and employees of associations for ground, water and dykes; employees of international river management commissions, as well as engineers and planners of flood protection systems.
A one-day symposium accompanying events in the new FLOOD MANAGEMENT BERLIN section will be taking place on 25 March 2015 in Hall 6.3 in Room A. This is organised jointly by WASSER BERLIN e.V. and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Berlin. Melanie Schultz van Haegen-Maas Geesteranus, the Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment, and Barbara Hendricks, the Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, will open the event. Attendance for trade visitors is free of charge.
In order to actively engage visitors in events, at WASSER BERLIN INTERNATIONAL Kompetenzzentrum Kritische Infrastrukturen GmbH (KKI) will be undertaking a crisis management exercise. The KKI is a company that advises and provides services for urban utilities, network providers, local municipalities and for industry. It specialises in managing crises, emergencies and technical faults in the network infrastructures of KRITIS energy and water sectors and offers protection, event management, courses and training schemes. The crisis management exercise will focus on an urban utility company's response to events. The scenario is a flooding event and the risks involved in providing the local population with supplies. Those taking part will assume the various roles of a crisis management team and will have to confront dangers similar to those in a real-life situation. Their task will be to assess events, determine their own response and to organise and carry out the relevant measures. The exercise will be held in German.
